Characters

In the comments are a series of characters as well as descriptions. Characters can be members of the mercenary organizations (say the organization is a loose band of merc units. Say five to six mercenary companies), military personell, governing bodies, spies, and whatever else you can think of.

The Planets

This thread is for ideas/discussion on the planets.

My thoughts are: rather than crazy-big intergalactic space travel, we use the planets in our own solar system. The planets have been adapted to sustain human life. Artificial ozone layers (some really really strong for Venus perhaps) sun amplifiers for the farther planets....

Just thinking aloud here. This would elimenate another tired cliche: the warp drive. No need to search for other terra-like planets, fucking mold the planets we have into what we want.

Thoughts? How many planets? Which ones? Ideas on the planets? Does this idea suck ass?

Basics

This will be a series about Space Mercenaries in the middle of an interglobal conflict. As a bit of a break from the cliche's of science fiction, there will be no aliens. Of course robots and other shit are fair game, just let's not over do it.

Questions to pose. The merc unit, how many men/women are in it? How many space cruisers do they have? They can't be super big, but too small would be kind of pointless

I want plenty of on-planet combat/story as well, any ideas on how to go about that?

Brain storm here. Ideas that you have which are more concrete, make a new post on it.

From the original email: Humans have populated X amount of planets and there is a war going on among them. The Merc team that we meet is the main cast. At some point, a few episodes in; the mercs split sides... moral opposition from something going on in the war (thinking genocide or something else thats rediculously terrible); and then we have two crews to follow around.
