This thread is for ideas/discussion on the planets.
My thoughts are: rather than crazy-big intergalactic space travel, we use the planets in our own solar system. The planets have been adapted to sustain human life. Artificial ozone layers (some really really strong for Venus perhaps) sun amplifiers for the farther planets....
Just thinking aloud here. This would elimenate another tired cliche: the warp drive. No need to search for other terra-like planets, fucking mold the planets we have into what we want.
Thoughts? How many planets? Which ones? Ideas on the planets? Does this idea suck ass?
The thing is that without some faster than light thing, it still would be difficult to the extreme to get anything coordinated from Earth.
ReplyDeleteOur fastest spaceship EVER designed is right now on its way to Pluto. Total flight time is over 10 years. Heck, even light is an 4-8 hour trip from here to Pluto depending on where it is in its orbit.
That's not to say that we can't do better of course. Maybe near light speed travel and have it take months or weeks to get to places rather than years.
I was thinking it would take a few hours to reach mars, maybe a few days to reach pluto... Something like that. Even if it was a week or two to reach Pluto...
ReplyDeleteI dunno, at some point I'll figure the math out; unless someone else wants to take up the torch.
Any idea on the planets we should include? I like Pluto (can be the non-planet planet), Earth, and Mars for sure. Anything closer than the Earth? Uranus would be awesome too. Maybe another member if the kippar belt? Or more...
Each planet should have its own history of course. Earth being the oldest, Mars the logical next. Those two, being the closest, would likely have a relatively tight bond/relationship.
Each planet likely will have its own governments that 'bends the knee' to the planetary empire (or whatever we're calling it).
